I'm a 75% white/25% black Dominican and when I'm in DR, I can hang out with a white dominican, a black dominican or a mixed dominican and race would NEVER come up during the conversation but it's very different in the US. Say a mixed Dominican is in a room full of non Dominicans and sees an Asian Dominican, a black dominican and a white dominican, do you think hes going to care that they happen to be of different racial compositions? No. He's just going to be like "que lo que compae!" Now say a black american goes to China and meets another American who happens to be white, do you think they're going to be able to have a conversation? Hell no! The black american would want nothing to do with the white american and vice-versa. I can't have a conversation with a white or black american without me being a hispanic coming up. Why can't Americans become nationalists? A few are but most aren't. And by Americans I mean blacks and whites who have been here for a while, recent immigrants are a different story.
White Dominicans do not hate other dominicans, they hate POOR people. And mixed dominicans don't deny being black, they identify as DOMINICANS
Because people will assume im a black man when I say I'm Dominican
In DR, you are rich, it doesn't matter if you're black, white, mixed or chinese, you will be seen as higher than everyone and look down on the poor.
