Open Question: I have a question about something I saw Carl Edwards do in today’s race at Talladega?

I believe it was one of the first cautions, and the commentators were talking about whether or not Edwards had stayed out to get five points for leading a lap. Anyway, they were showing Edwards inside his car, and he had a bottle of water. He was pouring the whole thing into his lap. Why did he do this? Was it because he was hot? I would think sitting in water would be uncomfortable. Do other drivers do this, and I've just never seen it?
