Open Question: Is my story alright,ok,bad,or good?

What do you think of my story for my english class. We had to create and alternate ending to the story "A sound of thunder" 1999.2000.2005. The machine stopped. The doors to the machine slowly opened. Travis pushed Eckels out. “Get out of here and never come back” Travis yelled. Eckels walked out of the building and looked around. Everything was in ruins. He turned around and looked at the building, half of it was gone! He quickly ran to his house, heart pounding with each step. His house was still there. He ran inside and kept yelling for his wife. In the kitchen he was looking frantically for her, yelling her name louder and louder. All of a sudden he was pulled under the kitchen table with a hand over his mouth, it was his wife. “You have to be quiet or they will find us.” His wife said lifting her hand off his mouth. “Who will?” Eckels asked confused. “The King's guards. Don't you remember? You and me are the last humans alive. Four years ago the butterflies took over the world and annihilated everyone.” Eckels's wife said “The kill any human they see or hear. So you have to be quiet.” Eckels looked confused and sad. “How could killing one butterfly harm the entire human race.” Eckels thought to himself. “So all of our family and friends are dead.” Eckels asked. “Yes. Hunny don't you remember?” Asked Eckels wife. Eckels ran out of his house. He had to tell the others. He ran to Time Safari, busted the door open, and looked inside. Inside there was a lonely butterfly flying in the air, and on the ground was everyone he went back in time with,dead. The butterfly turned around and looked at him and started to fly after him. Eckels started to run away. He was running as fast as he can, faster then a gazelle, faster then a hungry lion. All of a sudden he was on the ground, he look at the butterfly. “Is there anyone else that is alive” the butterfly asked staring Eckels in the eyes. “No.” Eckels said while thinking of his wife. “Your lying” demanded the butterfly. “Tell me where she is!” “No. Your going to have to kill me.” Eckels replied. All of a sudden Eckels woke up in a sweat. He got out of bed and looked around. Everything was the same as it was before he left. He went to the kitchen to see his wife cooking. “Oh hi sweetie. Aren't you going to get dressed? You don't want to be late for your safari” His wife said. “It was all a dream. A horrible dream” Eckels said to himself. “What was that?” She replied. “I don't think I am going to go. I would rather spend the day with you.” Eckels said smiling.
