Open Question: why is there such a stigma about interracial dating?

i am currently in an interracial relationship. i am white and he is from guatemala. i get so much crap about it from everyone. it is not just older ppl (i'm 22), but also people my own age. i know you shouldn't care what other ppl think, but it does get to you. i'm so defensive over everything. my friends parents told me i was going to hell for dating outside of my race, and i have heard very insulting commits thrown at me. my question is that why does it matter. he is smart, kind, and a an amazing person...why, why do we get ridiculed for our relationship. it is almost like are relationship is credited as much as same race couples. what ever happened to love is all that matters?
